Prof. Dr. Barbaros DOKUMACI
Prof. Dr. Barbaros Dokumaci was born in 1961 in İzmir. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Istanbul. After studying the first four years at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, he transferred due to his status as a military student and graduated from Gülhane Military Medical Academy (GATA) in 1985. In 1986, he completed his internship at GATA.
He completed his residency training in 1992 and earned the title of Cardiology Specialist. After receiving the title of Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiology at GATA, he began working as a faculty member at EskiÅŸehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Medicine in May 1994, where he pioneered modern invasive cardiology in EskiÅŸehir.
In 1996, he received six months of training in “Electrophysiology†at Maastricht University under the supervision of Prof. Wellens. After returning to Turkey, he helped establish his clinic as a center specializing in electrophysiology. In the same year, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor in Cardiology.
In 1998, he was granted the first “Research Fellowship†scholarship awarded to Turkey by the European Society of Cardiology and went to Maastricht again for six months. After returning to Turkey, he resigned from his position at Osmangazi University.
In 1998, he began working as a cardiology specialist at the SSK EskiÅŸehir Regional Hospital, where he established the first Electrophysiology Laboratory within SSK hospitals and transformed the EskiÅŸehir hospital into one of the leading heart centers in the region.
After 2003, Dr. Dokumacı started working in the private sector and was awarded the title of Professor in 2014. He is involved in all areas of cardiology.
At the center where he currently works, he performs all cardiology procedures, including invasive cardiac and peripheral interventions, pacemaker implantation, ICD and CRT-D implantation, and cardiac ablation procedures. He also performs percutaneous closure procedures for congenital heart diseases and carries out all interventions with a 24/7 service approach.
He is also a graduate of the Faculty of Law and holds a Master’s degree in Medical Law. He is married and the father of two children.
